Photo courtesy of Nonprofit Nate " CBS has been 3rd in the morning TV news ratings for over 30 years. Charlie Rose will be leading their charge to change this from 7am-8am, bringing a serious tone to an otherwise increasingly witty, wacky and pop-culture-filled hour led by NBC’s ‘Today’ and ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’. Rose is perhaps the single best interviewer I have ever seen. His questions get to the heart of issues and people, facilitating a beautiful dialogue, filled with insightful verbal challenges, full disclosure and shared understanding. Here are 29 questions that I think he’d ask of current and potential supporters – and of development officers – that will take you further in your philanthropic relationships. At the end, add your own. Let’s get to 30? 40? More?…" Press the 'View Original Post' button below to read the complete article!Read More ›

"#GivingTuesday - A new national fundraising day made its debut on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving—and beat its organizers’ expectations. About 2,600 charities from all 50 states joined the #GivingTuesday campaign, which encouraged consumers to open their wallets one more time after shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The brainchild of Henry Timms, deputy executive director of New York’s 92nd Street Y, the event prompted a spike in online donations. Network for Good, the online donation processor, recorded a 154.6 increase in gifts over the same day a year earlier." Over 1000 books and canned food for Sense Charter School! OBAT's desire to create a difference in the local Indianapolis community led it to partner with Second Helpings and Sense Charter School. For Giving Tuesday, we aspired to collect enough books to help Sense Charter School start a library for the kids studying there. Most of the kids at the school come from impoverished backgrounds and encouraging reading is not on the families' priorities list as there are more pressing issues at hand. Sense Charter School currently has a tiny reading room with only a few books. With the help of over a 1000 books donated by OBAT, they will be able to start a library for the students. We haven't stopped here and are still actively collecting books for them. So feel free to donate some. Reach us at: contact@obathelpers.org if you have some extra books lying around. Our deepest thanks to Half Price Books for their boxes of donations that helped us achieve our goal of starting a library at Sense Charter School. Read More ›

"Amid concerns that our national day of thanks is becoming more consumer-driven, Giving Tuesday is emerging as an alternative to frenzied holiday shopping. It's a mostly social-media based effort to remind people to give back to local charities and nonprofit causes on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving."
